You must have seen cosplay with costumes of different materials, but here’s a Japanese dog owner, who uses cardboard as the ‘dress’ material for her cute Chihuahua-mametaro. Semba, the dog owner, is wowing the internet with her unique and hilarious cardboard cut-outs that her cute dog readily ‘dons’.
Semba, who resides in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture with her dog, hit upon the idea to make special cardboard cut-out costumes and masks for her dog. Initially, Semba’s designs were based on manga, anime characters or Japanese playing cards, because these are the things she likes. Says she, “I gradually started drawing a dog’s face, Mickey Mouse and other characters.” It is thanks to her imagination that each and every creation of hers brings a big smile on faces.
It’s one thing to create cardboard cut-outs, but quite another to get Chihuahua-mametaro to play his part. Semba does this quite easily, as she has trained her dog well. All she needs to do is to say out loud, “Go home!” and the little doggie rushes to the cut-out, finds the cut where he’s to stick his snout out and stays still till the shot is over! With so many works to his credit, Chihuahua-mametaro has certainly become a seasoned dog model.
Semba remains modest of her accomplishment and simply states, “The main character is the non-moving dog and my art skill is secondary.” Her works are slowly getting recognized on the internet. She has over 19,000 fans on Instagram and counting.

She also posts videos that are hilarious……taking tweezers to remove a small piece of paper stuck on her sleeping dog’s nose, trying to clean the floor around her sleeping dog, etc. Her posts make my day!
