Larry Tamaraemi or Tamara, as he is popularly known as, is a Nigerian law graduate, who from the very beginning took great interest in drawing. Taking his inspiration from great pen artists, such as Oscar Ukonu and Enam Bosokah of Ghana, this talented artist has carved a niche for himself in the world of pen art.
Tamara’s natural flair for penning the portraits of some of the renowned musicians in his unique hyper-realistic style is simply mind-blowing. Asked how he discovered his love for art, Tamara says, “I discovered my love for drawing when I was a little boy. I would always draw random nonsense on my father’s copy paper while he was studying.” Incidentally, his father is a lawyer too.
Tamara’s love for art was so great that he went against the good judgement of his parents, who weren’t too enthusiastic about his passion and wanted him to focus on his law studies. It doesn’t come as a surprise that he turned a full-time pen artist.
From an idle doodler, Tamara has come a long way to become one of the coolest pen artist, who is making waves on the social media. His spectacular range of subjects that include SZA, Michael Jackson, Rihana and so much more, warms the heart of music fans, both old and new.
Little wonder he has attracted over 16,000 diehard fans on Instagram, who are swooning over his artwork. So meticulous is his work that it takes him around 20 to 30 hours to complete a single portrait. Expectations run high as people wait eagerly for his new creations.
