Model Maker Displays A Remarkable Eye For Detail In Making Adorable Miniature Models

Desks cluttered with files, papers, and stationery, closets chock a block with clothes, kitchen with neatly placed utensils, and the like are things we see but don’t really register. However, turning them into miniature models without missing out on the details is something that certainly makes it eye-catching. This is what Damien Webb, a miniature model maker, remains passionate about.

This maker of all things tiny holds expertise over miniature model making. He gets his ideas from his surroundings, television, movies, and whatever tickles his imagination. His skilled hands then turn these ideas into tiny sets and props that are as close to the original as can be.

As a child, Webb possessed a lot of miniature toys. His favorites included a little car with a boat roof, a little peg family, and a tent trailer with which he played constantly. As he grew up, he got hooked to Lego. It was while studying in Bellerose High School, Alberta, Canada, that he realized his passion for miniatures. Soon, he made his first miniature model car.

Webb’s inborn attention to detail got an added boost when he graduated with a degree in Theatre Production from Grant MacEwan University in Alberta, Canada, where he specialized in Set Design, Model Making, Scenic Painting, and Prop Production. Here he also acquired the ability to see use in a lot of weird junk and use them to make his miniatures. For example, once he made a little diner inside of a coffee pot.

Webb’s favorite creation is ‘The Cooker’ figure he made. Oddly enough, he loves to create miniatures that cannot be replicated in the real world. Seeing the public enjoy his works gives him the greatest push and his greatest inspiration is when he inspires others to pick up a glue stick and paper to make art.

Many public galleries and private collections in Canada, the US and many other countries of the world showcase Webb’s works. His works have also been covered by MAKE Magazine and other online publications. He also has many solo exhibitions and group shows to his credit. His solo exhibitions include ‘Ticky Tacky’ and ‘Pre-shrunk’ at the Argyle Fine Art Gallery, Halifax.

Webb, originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is now a resident of Nova Scotia, near White Point. His miniature models and other creations are available at the Gift Shop at White Point Beach Resort.
