She certainly revives the days of Salvador Dali. Yes, the 20th Century iconic surrealist painter famed for his works like ‘The Persistence of Memory’ and others. Her name is Alexandra Chertulova, more popularly known by her artist name, RaydaEalvay.
This 19-year-old from Perm, Russia is an amazing visualizer who makes use of her self-portraits to express her artistic thoughts. What’s amazing is she is a completely self-taught artist, re-toucher and a photographer.
Rayda’s claim to fame is her surreal compositions, where she remains the main subject. Unlike the surrealist painters of yesteryears, she manipulates her digital self-portraits using Photoshop to infuse surrealism in them. Displaying both artistic and visualizing abilities, Rayda constantly explores her identity, emotions and dreams to create such works of art.
What makes Rayda do what she does is her inner urge to showcase her thoughts and emotions. And the medium she has chosen certainly enables her to depict what is running in her mind. Of course, this self-taught artist not only uses all the modern software at her disposal to deliver her form of art, but various graphic programs too to achieve that magic effect.
Says she, “Maybe some people can accuse me of what I do, it’s not art. However, for me graphic programs are only a tool thanks to which I can express myself and my personality.” And we totally agree with her.
Her surreal art has not gone unnoticed as she is avidly followed on the social media. On Instagram, she has over 11,000 followers.
