Pendants, rings, earrings, etc. in the form of animals have been around since a long time. However, Jenny Topoloski’s jewelry of insects and animals takes one back to the days of yore, what with its old-world charm. This is what has catapulted this 36-year-old, based in Manhattan, New York, USA, to fame. The exquisite pieces of this animal jewelry designer are made from a variety of insects, animals, and even snake scales and bones.
Jenny had always been creative and an animal lover since childhood. According to her, she only needs a start point to focus and expand on it. When she first came across the beautiful and intricately designed pieces of animal jewelry, it ignited her creativity. And she took up animal jewelry designing in the right earnest. What adds to her designing prowess is her background in drawing, painting, textile printing, printmaking and ceramics.
Little wonder Jenny Topolski jewelry is gaining popularity at her Etsy shop. Created in her own style, her popular pieces include whale and squid necklaces, among others. She has also designed gold animal jewelry and her exquisite gold bee ring has become a collectors’ item.
It’s not only her creativity in designing that puts Jenny apart from other jewelry designers, but her practical approach to it. Says she, “A piece must be able to be worn, it can’t be too heavy or too light, the materials and textures must be compatible against the skin or clothing or both, and the form and shapes have to move with the human body.”
And Jenny’s current priority is to create products having least impact on the planet. For this, she’s resorting to ecofriendly means, such as shipping items through Etsy, using biodegradable packaging, working with recycled metals, shopping locally, and much more.
