It’s hard to believe that in this day and age this 25-year-old Britisher wears clothes only from the Regency period! What’s more, he has shunned modern clothes since he was 14! The person we’re talking about is Zack MacLeod Pinsent. And he proudly proclaims, “I don’t own or wear any modern clothing.”
Recalling his earlier days, Zack said, “I decided to burn my only jeans on a bonfire. It was a real turning point.” He shared that when he was in school, he used to dress up in three-piece suits on non-school uniform days. And when he reached the sixth form, he’d dress up in period clothing every single day. It’s not surprising that he was voted the best dressed in the leavers’ book!
Zack’s inspiration probably came from the old period suits of his great-grandfather that he saw while moving home when he was only 14. So enamored was he of the clothing of that era that he took up a career in tailoring, just to be able to make clothes in period styles.
To take up this career in all earnestness, Zack opened a workshop in Brighton, East Sussex, East England. He specialized in historical tailoring. Today, he designs and sews such outfits with his own hands and offers, “Bespoke period clothing crafted with historical accuracy.”
The best part is Zack doesn’t need to spend on advertising, as he himself is a walking advertisement for his business since he loves to dress up in this clothing for all to see. And to top it, he loves to shop in his Regency outfit, sporting a top hat, a cane and all.
To those who find his behavior eccentric, he says, “It’s hard for men to show exuberance, but I love what I do and do it for my enjoyment.” His typical day wear is waistcoat, jacket, and tails with knee-high riding boots. For him, dressing up like this is a “huge confidence builder”.
Just to show the kind of popularity Zack enjoys, he has over 290,000 followers on Instagram alone.
