Tulip Garden of Kashmir, decorated with 20 million pieces flowers of 46 varieties, was opened on Saturday. With this, the 15-day Tulip Festival began with the introduction of Bahar-i-Kashmir. In the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Gardens, spread over 30 hectares in the valley of tremendous hills, about 1.75 lakh tourists came last year, resulting in a turnover of Rs 58 lakh.
This year it is expected that the figure of tourists can go up to three lakhs. Tulip flowers are of three to four weeks of age. This is why the garden opens for just 15 days. During the Tulip festival, arrangements for eating handicrafts and Kashmiri food have also been arranged.
