The term ‘Going Bananas’ seemed to be totally applicable to this artist but in a good sense! Stephan Brusche, an artist based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, has been dealing in bananas for the last seven years. No, he has not changed his profession, but he has managed to blend art with bananas!
In other words, he uses bananas as his canvas, and draws on them and carves them into works of art. It all started when Brusche wanted to send something pleasing on Instagram. As he was pondering what to send, he noticed a banana lying on his desk. So, he picked it up and drew a little happy face on it.
This innocuous effort made him realize how enjoyable it was to draw on a banana peel and he took it up as an experiment. With time and experience, he started expressing his creative ideas on the banana peel, within the confines of the shape of the banana.
Today, he not only draws on the banana peel in all kinds of ways but also carves it to include the white banana fruit underneath in his creations. It is no surprise that Brusche’s whimsical art is catching eyeballs on the social media.
