Stephanie Walberer’s unique geode resin art has created a niche in the art world. This is because she was able to reproduce the glossy geode crystals on canvas through resins to create amazing artworks. A geode incidentally is a rock that has crystals on the inside.
The idea to combine the two came to Walberer when she visited a mineral show in Germany where she saw the beautiful, high gloss and sparkling geodes. She instantly fell in love with them. Since the high gloss finish of geodes was akin to her resin art, she got the idea of replicating their designs with resins. Thus, her unique geode resin art was born.
From her very childhood, Walberer loved colors and designs because her mother was into interior design. Although she studied textile management, she helped out her mom in running her interior designing business. It was during one such visit to a home to take certain measurements that she found the owner desperate for a perfect artwork for his wall. This motivated her to buy a canvas and start painting with acrylics. She soon came across resin and that changed her life as an artist.
According to Walberer, the resin is not easy to work with. This sticky and tricky medium needs a lot of experience to control. This is evident from the time it takes to finish her artwork. For normal artwork, it takes her anywhere between two to three hours. For complex ones with added layers, effects glitter, highlights, stones, and the like, it can take her up to four weeks.
Walberer is based in Munich, Germany, and she markets her artworks through COLORBERRY, a name she chose because it was easy for German people to pronounce! Her works are popular on the internet and she enjoys a viewership of over 168,000 on Instagram.
