Ever heard of ‘cartoon bombing’ trending nowadays? No, neither did we till we came across David Troquier, who goes by the nickname Troqman. This French expat from Paris, who now resides in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is a creative artist who works as an art director in an advertising agency by day and as a ‘cartoon bomb’ illustrator by night.
It’s Troqman’s cartoon bombing that has got him noticed. If you’re wondering what cartoon bombing is, it comprises common everyday scenes that are ‘bombed’ by including cartoon illustrations in such a way that they interact with the surroundings. It’s thanks to his exceptional imagination and visualization that he is able to create hilarious cartoon bombed scenes.
Troqman was always keen on doodling from his early days and it’s not difficult to imagine what he would’ve done to his school and college notebooks! He was always gifted with a fertile imagination, the reason why he took up advertising as a career and rose to become an art director. Although his advertising work is noteworthy, what has really caught the imagination of the public is his cartoon bombing. It’s to his credit that he finds time for his cartoon bombing, despite his time-consuming advertising work.
It comes as no surprise that Troqman is always armed with his sketchbook and pencils, looking for interesting situations that he can cartoon bomb. Says he regarding cartoon bombing, “Cartoon bombing was born in June 2013, during a holiday in the Greek islands. I brought a sketchbook and was hoping to do some travel sketches, but got bored just drawing at landscapes or people at the beach.”
People are slowly getting aware of this new concept of cartoon bombing. This is evident from Troqman’s Instagram page that enjoys a following of more than 40,000 fans and counting.
