It’s certainly doesn’t seem normal for a young 21-year-old budding model to switch her career focus midway. But this is exactly what Gina Box has done. Instead of continuing to walk the ramp as a model, that she’d been doing from her teenage days, she ventured into fashion blogging. It’s not that she wasn’t successful as a model, in fact, she was crowned Durham’s Next Top Model in 2013 and bagged a one-year modeling contract with Tyne Tees Models when she was only 18! But her heart lay elsewhere.
Gina started her blog as a hobby, using Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. Identifying herself on social media platforms as ‘ohmygeeee’. On Instagram alone, she has managed to amass an impressive following of over 620,000 fashion and beauty fans.
Gina showcases the latest products and brands in fashion and beauty on her social media accounts. Asked about her foray into blogging, she told thenorthernecho.co.uk in an interview, “I started on Instagram about two years ago, just posting up tutorials and outfits, tagging the companies they came from. My followers started going up and companies started asking me to promote their products…” For her, this has become her full-time job.
Gina, who lives near Catterick Garrison, England, participates in all blogger events in London and gets invited to try new products and clothing lines. She also models for clothes online for retailers, such as Boohoo and Misguided. She was also invited for the opening of Dolly Mama, the Darlington fashion boutique.
Not only this, Gina started her YouTube channel in 2011 and her tutorials became a hit with fashionistas, who continue to lap up her latest trends in make-up, hair extension, DIY project walkthroughs and hauls.
Alumnus of Wensleydale School, Leyburn, UK, Gina continues to put in efforts not only to raise her profile but also to maintain her lifestyle that she terms as most exciting.
