Jet James Art: A Journey from Hardship to Award-Winning Artist

Jet James is a renowned Australian artist, printmaker, and designer known for his exceptional artwork. From his early years spent in poverty and neglect to his present success, Jet James has overcome many obstacles to become one of the most sought-after artists in the industry.

Born in Denmark, Western Australia in 1984, Jet James was raised in a difficult environment, surrounded by drug abuse and crime. He lost his mother at the young age of eight and was later orphaned by his father. Jet and his younger sister Paris were sent to live on a remote cattle station in Queensland with their father’s distant relatives. Despite the difficult circumstances, Jet found solace in drawing and art.

At the age of 19, Jet moved to Rockhampton where he used the inheritance from his late grandmother to put himself through a Diploma of Visual Communications at Central Queensland TAFE. It was here that he met mentor Peter Indans, an experimental printmaker from Melbourne, who helped Jet develop his love for printmaking using PVC.
