Turkish Illustrator Turns World’s Iconic Landmarks into Delightful Illustrations

Most artists get their inspiration from nature or from everyday life. But here is an artist who takes his inspiration from buildings and man-made objects. Meet Robin Yayla, an illustrator par excellence, who has been delighting his viewers with his unique creations on social media.

What Yayla does is take landmark buildings and add his own one-of-a-kind perspective to them. He gives a unique twist to these pictures by infusing his digital illustrations of famous characters from movies, comics, and everyday life. The picture takes a whole new meaning after that.

Take for instance the Folkart Towers, the 47-floor twin skyscrapers in Izmir, Turkey. He turns these two buildings into Optimus Prime’s legs…yes, the character created by the Transformers franchise. In another one, he makes Spiderman sit on the Tower Bridge of London, UK, and depicts the suspension cables of the bridge as him shooting his web. However, his best one yet is transforming the Heydar Aliyev Center, a building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan, into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic gown blowing up in the wind. There are many more such delightful illustrations.

Yayla, who was born in Istanbul, Turkey, was always passionate about art. He states on boredpanda.com, “My art adventure started with drawing at a young age. I grew up and my passion for exploring new places started. So, I wanted to combine these two passions together. And this combination created my language.”

Yayla relocated to Milan, Italy, and graduated with a Masters’s Degree in Art and Design. He fully exploited his twin passions for travel and illustration by interpreting the characteristics of famous buildings and monuments in his own unique way. According to him, his aim through his creations is to put a smile on his viewers’ faces. Of course, it is difficult to conceal a smile when you find Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, as a zipper, or the Science Center Medical Technology building in Berlin, Germany, as Star Wars Storm Trooper! His unique twists on so many famous places around the globe are most smile-worthy.

Little wonder he has a following of over 100,000 on Instagram alone.
