Most artists communicate things they observe by painting on a canvas. But here is an artist who paints on anything handy, even her own hand! Meet Golsa Golchini, an Iranian artist, who is delighting the viewers with her unique form of art.
Golchini, born in Tehran, Iran, is currently based in Milan, Italy. What is fascinating about her art is her realistic renditions of miniature figures, objects, animals, and what have you, on the palm of her hands. It is the non-conventional form of her art and the beautiful paintings she creates that have the viewers wanting more.
The imagination of this outstanding artist is to be seen to be believed. In one of her compositions, she paints two fingers to look like a pair of legs. In another, she makes a beautiful swing by adding a tiny silver chain around her middle finger and paints a blue-haired girl sitting on it. One palm painting shows a herd of cows eating grass, depicted in green paint. She leaves bare that portion of the palm, where they have ‘eaten’ the grass! A really clever way of depicting something so simple. In yet another, a solitary figure is shown scrubbing away the blue paint in the center of her palm. This imaginative artist certainly tells a story through paint and bare space on the palm.
For Golchini, there is no limit to expressing her creativity with a mere palm of a hand. She explains on returnonart.com, “My artworks are my way of communicating with the observer about the things of everyday life that we all have in common. Things we do, objects we use, emotions we feel. These actions, depicted in my artworks, are very simple like the cardboard they’re drawn on. My aim is to immerse the observer into the work and make him or her see the world and everyday actions in a different way.”
It comes as no surprise that all of Golchini’s works on Instagram have garnered a fan following of over 103,000 and counting. Her original pieces and prints can be purchased from her shop on ‘Return on Art’.
