Cake Artist Creates Some of the Most Realistic and Surrealistic Cakes Ever Seen

Born in Brunswick in Ohio, USA, Natalie Sideserf was bitten by the art bug from childhood itself. So, it wasn’t surprising that she opted to study Fine Art at The Ohio State University when she came of age. But instead of taking clay or plaster as her artistic medium, she chose cake! This 36-year-old cake artist would’ve remained on the sidelines, had it not been for Capital Confectioners’ Sugar Art Show & Cake competition. She created a life-size head of music legend Willie Nelson in this competition, which took 30 grueling hours to complete. She won the Best of Division at the intermediate level and other awards for this cake.

Things begin to move fast when Sideserf’s brother posted the picture of this cake on the online news site reddit.com. This immediately went viral and hit the top of the charts, ranking first globally. This success encouraged her to start her own business that she calls Sideserf Cake Studio. It comes as no surprise that she creates some of the most realistic and surrealistic cakes ever seen.

As her business turned lucrative, her husband Dave Sideserf quit his job as a director at a tech company and joined her. The couple has established itself among its customers all over central Texas. Sideserf Cake Studio has featured on two seasons of Food Network’s Texas Cake House. One of her most outstanding works is Natalie Sideserf’s selfie cake, amongst others. Her Natalie Sideserf wedding cakes are also most popular.

Sideserf has an impressive list of clients, such as The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, an American cinema chain, American Idol, and many more. Not only this, but she has also made a cake for Keith Urban and for Moontower Comedy Festival. She has appeared on Fox 7 News.
