Russia’s Defense Ministry Spokeswoman With Drop-Dead Looks Takes Social Media By Storm

Centuries before, it was Helen of Troy, whose face had launched a thousand ships. Well, in current times, it is the spokeswoman of Russia’s defence minister that is causing ripples, if not launching any ships!

Her name is Rossiyana Markovskaya, the newly appointed spokesperson of Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s defence minister.The deadly combination of beauty and brains is generally the preserve of Miss Universes and Miss Worlds, but here she has become a media sensation in her own right, even though she is a mere spokesperson.

It is thanks to the gorgeous drop-dead looks of this 26-year-old beauty that has made the social media go gaga over her. Her fans stumbled upon her beauty from her photographs and selfies on Instagram feed that shows her going about her everyday life. The deadly combination of deep blue eyes and brown hair, not to mention her perfect figure, has made Markovskaya’s fans give her the sobriquet of ‘Oboronyasha’, which in English means ‘Defense Cutie’.

Markovskaya, a resident of Vladivostok, graduated from the Department of Journalism at the Far Eastern Federal University. She is no stranger to the media glare, as she was previously employed by the Vladivostok State TV and Radio Company. After this, she did a stint as a correspondent with Zvezda, a federal television channel.

It is not only her looks that have endeared her to her diehard fans but also her flair for music. In some of her photos and videos shared on the social media, she is seen singing and playing the guitar.

However, Markovskaya is not the first to become the darling of the masses, while working for the Russian government. Previously, Natalia Poklonskaya had whipped up a similar internet frenzy with her beauty and youth, while serving as a Crimean prosecutor. She is now an attorney general.

The rare combination of beauty and brains never ceases to awe. And Markovskaya has only refreshed it in the minds of her social media fans.
