Japanese Artist Afflicted with ADHD Creates Incredible Leaf Cutouts

If you think paper cutouts are difficult to create, imagine how difficult it’d be to create leaf cutouts! Not for Rito, an ace Japanese leaf cutout artist, who suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). His leaf cutouts are so fine and detailed that one has to see them believe.

The variety that Rito infuses in his leaf cutouts is certainly stupendous. He spends hours painstakingly cutting out stunning details in leaves. The scenes he creates simply capture one’s imagination. Just sample his cutouts of a rhinoceros cleaning its calf’s teeth or the scene of a grocery store inhabited by animals or of sheep jumping the fence one after the other.

Rito, who suffers from ADHD, finds creating leaf cutouts as a form of therapy, the reason why he spends hours focusing on a single artwork that he creates with such admirable perfection. He has made it a routine to create at least one leaf cutout a day. For this, he has developed a very precise cutout technique, but it’s his incredible imagination that helps him create his dreamy narratives in leaf.

Rito explains his art on his Instagram page, “I make positive use of my own ADHD biased concentration and commitment to create paper-cutting works using leaves.” His meticulous leaf carvings are beautiful and poetic, but sometimes surreal too. It makes the viewers imagine the worlds depicted on these miniature creations. He certainly expresses a world with a single leaf.

Rito’s Instagram page enjoys a viewership of over 95,000 fans.
