World’s Oldest Cat Set To Enter The Guinness World Record At 30

You may call it Michele Foster’s loving devotion to her cat named Rubble, whom she received as a kitten on her 20^thbirthday in May 1988, which has seen him celebrating his 30^th birthday! Yes, Rubble is the world’s oldest cat at 30 and going strong!

Foster’s all praise for Rubble and says, “He’s a lovely cat, although he has got a little grumpy in his old age. He was part of a litter that my sister’s friend’s cat had and I had just left home. I was lonely living on my own, so got him in as a kitten.He’s very loyal. We used to live in London and moved around a lot. He came in the removal van to Devon with us when we moved 15 years ago.”

Foster’s love for Rubble only grew, since this 50-year-old never had children of her own. She now mollycoddles her moggy like her son and the two are inseparable.  

When Rubble hit the big 30, Foster wanted to make this milestone memorable. She organized a party at her local vets. Not only was the cat gifted a free check-up, but was also pampered with tasty treats by the team at City Vets and his doting owner.

Rubble has distinguished himself by matching the age of the last world record holder, Scooter. The latter had entered the Guinness Book of World Records, when he turned 30, but unfortunately died later. This made Rubble the current contender for the title. However, the age of 30 is far behind that of the oldest ever cat called Crème Puff, who lived to be 38!

Foster is a bit apprehensive about Rubble’s new-found fame and says, “He has plenty of live left in him yet, but I don’t think we’ll go down the Guinness World Record route as I am not sure he’d like lots of people coming to see him or a fuss being made out of him.He’s old now and wouldn’t like too much attention or be hassled. We’d prefer if he was just left to live out his old age in peace.”
