If you love cuddly toys, you’ll certainly love what this Ukraine-based designer creates. Hanna Dovhan is an expert in needlework and sculpts pure felted wool into soft and beautiful figurines of myriad creatures and objects, such as miniature mountains, clutched baguettes and many more.
Hanna is particularly fond of creating felt figurines of vegetables, animals, birds, and trees. She also meticulously decorates each creation with a tiny smiling face and, if it’s a male, with a micro mustache! Don’t believe? Have a look at her adorable acorn couple. Her creations are usually found in pairs or in multiple numbers and they simply delight. Her hugging croissants, the carrot family, twin fir trees, doughnut duo, avocado halves and more are simply incredible and oh-so-cuddly.
Why Hanna prefers pure wool felt over other materials to create her miniature figurines is because she feels this material is ideal and provides her with endless possibilities to create anything she likes. It’s easy to work with too since this material doesn’t leave frayed ends. It can be cut neatly and easily sewed by hand or even glued. The best part is it comes in ever so many vibrant colors.
Hanna has opened a shop in Ukraine with her sister OlhaDovhan. The shop is named Manooni. Her works can also be bought from her Etsy shop ‘Woolsculpture’. Where Hanna’s creations score over others is their neatness. Each of her miniature figurines is so expertly sewed that it looks exactly in the image of the real thing in a cartoonish way.
And it’s not only the felt figurines that Hanna creates, but her Etsy shop also offers greeting cards, aquarelle miniature paintings of animals and painted cloth bags. You can choose these cuddly creatures and objects from her Instagram page, where she has a sizeable following.
