This Greek Artist Displays Miniature Worlds Inside The Vintage Pocket Watches

What good is a watch if it doesn’t show time? You wouldn’t ask this question once you see what Gregory Grozos does with antique pocket watches. This Greek artist fits entire worlds inside them! Says he, “I call my creations ‘miniature worlds’ because that’s what I exactly aim them to be.” For this, he puts in backbreaking efforts to make each work as detailed and complete as a tiny world needs to be called a world.

Gregory’s derives his inspiration from diverse sources, such as classic art, fantasy, steampunk, and even fairy tales. He meticulously puts together all the components of his miniature world inside the small confines of a pocket watch metal casing, piece by piece. It’s his fertile imagination that doesn’t fail to impress. His microcosm includes tiny figurines placed in different environments, such as homes, workplaces, factories and even among the cogs and wheels of the vintage watch.

A mere glance at Gregory’s creation will show that it’s certainly not an easy task. Says he, “My work is very painstaking and most pieces take days or even weeks to complete.” This is because each of his creations uses countless individual components, such as little cogs, tiny figurines, miniature trees, and much more. His steampunk creations are especially fascinating, since they house full factories, complete with workers, inside the confines of the metal casing. His fairy tale creations include the miniature scene from ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

Gregory’s latest piece showcases a miniature factory that depicts conversion of tiny pieces of stones into gold. For this, he has used watch parts and tiny bits of metal pieces to create the machinery and fitted it inside a vintage watch metal casing.
