Street Artist Adorns Walls Of Abandoned Buildings With His Nickname ‘VILE’ With Transparency “Like Magic”

This street artist terms his art as vile graffiti, but there’s certainly nothing vile about it at all. In fact, Vile is what Rodrigo Miguel Sepúlveda Nunes is known as in his native country, Portugal. And he celebrates the word ‘VILE’ by making it figure in all his creations and how!

That Nunes artworks grab eyeballs is stating the obvious. And it’s not only because of his creative renderings, that stand out from the rest but also because of the message he conveys through his artwork. And he has special affinity towards the walls of abandoned and run-down buildings.

This 34-year-old graffiti artist, who lives in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, has his own signature style of spray painting the walls with the word ‘VILE’ in large letters. These letters contain the glimpse of the interior that appear so realistic, as to seem as if one is peeking into the building through these letters! And he displays some really delightful variations of the word ‘VILE’.

Nunes has always been passionate about art as long as he can remember. When he was only 14, he expressed his passion for art by spray-painting graffiti on the walls. He went on to study cartoon and animation films in ETIC (School of Innovation and Creation Technologies), Lisboa, Portugal. He also attended Ar.Co (School of Art and Visual Communication) in the same city, where he honed his skills not only in drawing and illustration but also in fields, such as watercolor, oil, tattooing, charcoal and digital drawing.

However, it was graffiti that was Nunes’, first love. And studying art helped him evolve as a graffiti and mural painter. Such is the popularity of his works today, that his works have been commissioned by some international brands, such as OPEL, Portuguese Red Cross, Sport Lisboa e Benfica, TMN, Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Franca de Xira and Worten.
