Russian Sculptor Creates Amazing Metal Sculptures of Insects, Animals and Birds from Scrap Metal

Sculptures made out of metal always attract, more so, if they are of solid metal. Aleksei Medvedkov, a Russian metal sculptor, is currently making waves by creating incredible metal artworks. For this, he has established his creative workshop, Stihiy Metall.

What’s most heartening is Medvedkov uses scrap metal for his works. Every piece that he creates is handmade. Sample his sculpture titled ‘Grasshopper’ that has a grasshopper on a leaf as its centerpiece, along with a snail and a ladybug. It is made entirely out of small metal parts, such as gears, nails, and bearings. He has combined these metal components to form the lifelike critters. In fact, the snail was crafted from metal balls combined with small twisted metal sheets.

However, Medvedkov’s expertise lies in creating owls of all sizes. This is because he is passionate about these birds that are a symbol of wisdom, wealth, and success. So popular are his metal owls that people present them to family and friends as an unusual long-lasting gift. In all, his workshop has created more than a dozen owls to date and these adorn homes and are in private collections. Besides these, he also creates many other kinds of metal insects, birds, and animals.

From June 11, 2021, Medvedkov is participating in an eco-exhibition in Sochi, a Russian city on the Black Sea. It will be held in the Sochi Art Museum and will showcase sculptures of live nature in scrap metal art. His works can be seen on his Instagram page, stihiy_metall.
