Rebecca’s Pyrography Art Is Inspired By Nature

Rebecca Davis loves to play with fire, but its end product is always incredible works of art. If this has got you all confused, this artist is an expert at wood burning or pyrography art. Wondering what pyrography art is? It is etching designs on wood with burn marks by means of a heated implement.

Rebecca, who is passionate about art, chose pyrography over other forms of art, simply because she loved the way fire burned the wood to create permanent pyrography drawings. She uses pyrography pens that are heated with the help of electric elements and are designed to operate at either fixed or variable temperatures. These solid-point burners look similar to a soldering iron.

However, Rebecca’s main tool is her fertile imagination and the inspiration she derives from nature that guides the solid brass tip of her pyrography pen over wood to create incredible pyrography designs. Such is her mastery over these wire-nib burners that she’s able to create precise wood burning detail.

Rebecca exactly knows how much time should the pyrography pen remains in contact with wood. The longer it’s in contact, the darker and more detailed it is the burn mark. Her precise burning allows her to give the exact shading, thereby highlighting the depth and texture of her works.

Rebecca uses a variety of woods for her pyrography works, such as butternut, mahogany, basswood, walnut, birch plywood, pine, and others. However, her favorite remains sanded down hardwood, since it’s lighter in a color that not only provides more contrast but also shows greater details.

The good news is Rebecca’s pyrography art for sale is showcased in her Etsy shop – Vermont Wood Art. It includes different sized salad and jewelry bowls, mini ring bowls, wall decorations, spatulas, and even pendants. All her major works are displayed on her Instagram page.
