New PlayStation 5 Is Set To Provide A Life-Like Experience To Gamers

Technology is advancing at such a fast pace that it’s impossible to predict what next? You can only wait in excited anticipation of the new products that evolving technology will bring. One such is the new PlayStation 5 gaming technology.

Unreal Engine has released a demo video of its new PlayStation 5 that showcases next-generation graphics that are simply mind-blowing. The video introduces the viewers to what’s new and what all has gone into making the stunning life-like graphics.

Even though the PlayStation 5 release date is set for late 2020, its video is already creating a storm. Till May 14, 2020, it had been viewed 5,868,762 times and is trending at number 24 on YouTube. The 9-minute video produced by Brian Karis, technical director of graphics, and Jerome Platteaux, art director of special projects, explains what went into its making in ‘graphic’ details.

So advanced is the technology used in the PlayStation 5 design that players undergo a life-like experience while playing! Introducing the video, Brian says, “A few years ago, we got together as a team and brainstormed where we thought we could push forward the state of the art and real-time graphics.”

PlayStation 5 is not only made different than other games, but it also is more technologically advanced. In it, Brian’s team introduced a new technological element – the dynamic global illumination. In order to make the virtual world less static, they also introduced a system called Lumen.

The PlayStation 5 is equipped with the DualSense PS5 controller with some impressive features, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in mic. And it’s not only the features that are different but its radically futuristic look black-and-white color scheme. It’s certainly a big departure from its predecessors.

However, what makes the graphics so life-like is the newly introduced virtualized geometry. Brian elaborates, “The artists wouldn’t have to be concerned over poly counts, draw calls or memory. We could directly use film-quality assets and bring them straight into the engine.” This was achieved by introducing a system called Nanite.

As regards PlayStation 5 specs, it has an AMD Zen-2-based CPU with 8 cores at 305GHz, 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and a custom RDNA 2 AMD GPU that delivers 10.28 TFLOPs of processing power. The next-gen console will have ray-tracing, a super-fast SSD, and a built-in 4K Blu-ray player. What’s more, it will be backward compatible with a large number of PS4’s game catalog. It may even have voice assistant capabilities that inform about the time it’ll take to beat levels.

Although the PlayStation 5 price remains unknown, analysts place it anywhere between $470 to $499. As regards PlayStation 5 pre-order date, it’s stated to be somewhere around June/July 2020.
