Olivier Bertrand is an origami enthusiast, who has always had a knack for folding paper. But now he has turned this obsession into an extraordinary career as a master of cardboard and fabrications — especially life-sized animals (sculpture with cardboard).
It’s no secret to the online community that origami is an art form that requires skill and precision. Now, Olivier Bertrand has decided to use a different medium in which to practice this skill: cardboard.
Olivier Bertrand is a French designer and artist who was born in Marseille in 1975, to a French father and an Asian mother. Growing up, he became fascinated with drawing, visual arts, and, more specifically, origami at a very early age. After graduating with a Master’s in Economics and completing his studies, he finally chose to move into web design.
15 years on, he took advantage of a period of convalescence to go back to his roots: origami! Although this time round he’s not folding pieces of paper, his mantra remains the same: cardboard that he works with a new twist. By assembling bits of cardboard together, he now creates extraordinarily-amazing life-sized animals (sculpture with cardboard).
This is a great way to recycle and decorate your home at the same time. If you love art or simply animals, this is really inspiring! So go ahead and give it a try! Anything cardboard can be useful for your little creativity.
Origami expert Olivier Bertrand proves that art is more than what surrounds us in our day-to-day lives. It’s about how we see the world, how we want to express ourselves, and how we want to share our talents with others. From a single sheet of cardboard, he creates lifelike animals that will help him live out his dream: bringing his art to the people, wherever they are.
