Miniature Food Items Created By This Japanese Miniature Artist Look Ready To Eat

If you’ve seen one miniature work, you’ve seen ‘em all. Right? Wrong! The meticulous way in which this amazing artist goes about her job is something really marvellous.

Her name is Tomoko Misumi and she belongs to Fukuoka, Japan. She’s a miniature artist and her specialization is crafting bento boxes in such details that it simply boggles the mind. If you are wondering what a bento box is, it is a box that is meant for carrying Japanese lunch. The lunch comprises Japanese cuisine of rice or noodles, fish or meat with pickled and cooked vegetables that constitutes a single-portion home-packed or take-out meal in a box.

The only difference between a standard bento box and the one made by Misumi is the size. She makes it one-tenth the scale with all the lunch items realistically displayed in it! Every creation of hers is handcrafted with the highest regard to details. Little wonder her unique masterly miniature creations are nothing less than collectors’ items. According to her, each piece is designed and built with love and care.

Misumi uses Fimo clay, a brand of polymer clay, for her creations, because she simply loves its feel and finds it easy to manipulate it into different miniature shapes and forms. In addition, she also uses paper, wood and other non-edible raw materials. It is not surprising that her beautiful miniatures are counted among ‘kawaii’ things, which in Japanese means ‘cute’.

It seems Misumi is a foodie because a majority of her miniature work delves on food items. For example, her miniatures of cakes and pastries look so fresh and yummy that one literally drools viewing them. Her other food and beverage creations are no less.

Misumi enjoys a following of over 65,000 followers on Instagram. She is also prominent on other websites. The good part is anyone can order her unique creations online.
