This Dot Artist Entrances Her Viewers By Amazing Mandala Dot Painting Patterns On Stones

If you put all the pieces of her work together, they’d seem like an enchanting colorful coral forest! Such is the beauty that Lina West infuses in each of her creations. This Ukrainian-born artist, now based in California, US, is adept at putting gorgeous fractal patterns on stones to create her beautiful mandala art.

If you’re wondering what a mandala is, here are some facts about mandalas. A mandala is a configuration of symbols that have been used since eternity by various religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Shintoism, and many others. However, in Lina’s case, she uses only dots to create her zentangle mandala patterns.

Lina’s mandala art is certainly unique. And her simple mandala dot art tools include paints of vibrant colors, a pencil, and a syringe. Her process of how to make a mandala involves choosing the right stones, which are mostly round, that lend themselves to drawing mandala dot painting patterns and on which it’s easy to use her dot-art tools. She then draws the mandala dot art patterns on them by big and small dots. Afterward, by means of a syringe, she delicately places dots of her chosen colors to create various types of mandalas.

If you think Lina’s 3D mandala work is an easy dot painting, think again. Each average-sized stone has dots on top of each other that may number over 2,000! And it’s also not easy to achieve the 3D effect, some works require 10 layers to achieve it. Little wonder her dots appear as precious stones encrusted on stones!

Ask Lina about her work and she says, “The process is deeply meditative for me. I find myself entranced while working on a piece. And I feel the work reflects that depth.” For her, the tactile experience that her work provides is immensely healing.

Lina aims to engage the viewers through her works to make them interact with her creations. Little wonder her works have a profound influence on her viewers and her growing popularity on the internet is a testimony to it.
