Jewelry Designer Literally Floors Viewers With Her Incredible Mosaic Floor Made Out Of 7,500 Pennies

What do you do when you’ve lots of loose change, ample time on your hands, and oodles of patience? Well, you can follow Kelly Graham, the owner of Etsy shop, Camias Jewelry Designs. She went about gluing pennies to the floor to create a mosaic that’s really awesome to look at.

Graham sourced her pennies from her bank and collected them of all vintages. Some of the coins she used to date back to 1910! Getting hold of pennies was easy, but sticking them penny by penny and ensuring that they all faced heads up was really back-breaking. Not only this, but she also undertook grouting and sealing the floor all by herself, without help from any professionals. Not an easy job by any stretch of the imagination.

Graham is quoted by thesun.co.uk as saying, “I had new and old pennies, so I sorted them out in piles, and then I began to put them on the floor in a pattern that developed as I went along.” She used the old and new pennies for patterns and medium ones for fillers. Her mosaic floor covers an area of six square feet that took three weeks to complete.

Graham could pull off this feat since she was a machinist before she became a jewelry designer. This helped her develop an eye for spatial reasoning. However, covering the floor with pennies was a different ball game altogether. So, to get an idea of how to go about it, she viewed some basic tutorials on YouTube.

Although Graham created her floor in 2015, she thought of sharing it on the social media this year after Kat Von D shared hers. Incidentally, Kat covered her floor with a whopping 28,928 pennies! In comparison, Graham’s used a modest 7,500 pennies to complete her mosaic-style flooring. However, the major difference was that Graham did the job all by herself. Little wonder the project cost her only around £75.

It comes as no surprise that Graham’s stunning penny mosaic floor went viral on social media. It racked up 241,000 shares, with thousands commenting on the project on Facebook.
