Heard of hybrids? Well, this artist, who goes by the name Dada, is a pro at making hybrid art! One look at his works and you’ll know what we mean.
Dada’s forte is combining different characters into one. He either draws one half depicting the good and the other half evil, showcasing good versus evil or infuses different versions of the same character into one drawing. The best part is he picks up the characters from varied sources, such as Disney or anime. It comes as no surprise that he is a huge fan of Disney stories and of Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese animator, filmmaker, screenwriter, cartoonist, author, and manga artist. He also loves anime.
Says he, “I love drawing all sorts of subjects with all sorts of mediums. I believe that art can communicate without words. It’s a platform where I filter my emotions; it gives me the passion to create.”
Dada simply loves to do mash-ups of any character he can lay his hands on. One look at his collection proves how wide his range of characters really is. What’s more, he feels at home with any medium, his main art tool being color pencils.
Dada has made this form of art his career and has even gone commercial. He also remains keen to teach his kind of art to anyone interested. For a paltry $1 or more per month, depending upon the kind of work you want to learn, you will be provided with links and videos of his drawing process, as also PDFs showing his line work on certain illustrations. All these are easily downloadable, once you pay up.
In addition, you can avail a 10 percent discount on anything that catches your fancy on his online stores, such as illustrations, sketches, prints, stickers, and T-shirts. His work speaks for itself and has attracted over 77,000 fans on his Instagram account alone.
