His name is Tiago Hoisel and he belongs to a small city situated on the Brazilian coast, called Ilheus, that is 250 miles (400 kilometers) from Salvador. Tiago Hoisel biography would read something like this: Grew up like any normal country kid, played football, went fishing, raised fishes and crabs, and grew intensely passionate about drawing.
It was around the age of 14 that Tiago discovered the world of caricatures through the works of Ique, a caricaturist whose illustrations were published in Veja, a major Brazilian circulation magazine. Ique’s cartoons impressed him so much that he started copying him and gradually developed his own style. This was the time when he considered becoming a graphic designer and Tiago Hoisel artist was born.
So keen was Tiago on honing his craft that he not only graduated as a graphic designer but also continued to improve his skills in humor illustrations, especially caricatures. At that time, he really had no idea that he will become a professional illustrator. By and by, he became so good in his craft that he got invited by the same Veja magazine, that had previously hired Ique, to publish his works.
Although Tiago had got enrolled to become a graphic designer, his heart lay with humorous illustrations and he loved this form of art more than graphics designing. His unwavering focus on what he loved made him take illustrations in a big way. Soon, his works acquired a unique identity of their own, thanks to his inimitable style. Gradually his personal work of illustrations turned into professional work. Today, Tiago Hoisel illustrations wow the public across the world.
Currently, Tiago runs an illustration studio named Techno Image in Sao Paulo. He has had the good fortune of working in his studio with some of the most talented international artists, such as Pedro Conti, Lucas Leibholz and Diego Maia. This priceless interaction was a great learning experience for him.
As regards Tiago’s style, he’s been fascinated by realism and volumetric in paintings. Working with different materials, he has understood the behavior of light and shade. And this is amply reflected in this works. Today, he is keenly followed on the internet and he always delights his audience with his unique creations.
