A “Game Of Thrones” Themed Ice Hotel Fit For The Die hard Fans Of This Hit Television Series

If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, you certainly must be having the shooting destinations of this full-of-intrigue fantasy drama television series on your must-visit list. This list may include some of the most scenic, as well as desolate destinations, such as Alcázar of Seville, Spain; Itzurun Beach, Zumaia, Spain; Los Barruecos, Spain; Kirkjufell, Iceland; Itálica, Spain; and many more.

However, you really don’t have to visit these places, when you can have the taste of many Game of Thrones episodes in one place! Yes, you heard it right. You can view the scenes from this super television series in an ice hotel.

This ice hotel, built in collaboration with HBO Nordic, is located at the Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, 120 miles above the Arctic Circle in the Finnish Lapland. Constructing this 30-room hotel out of ice was no mean feat. It required a whopping 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of crystal-clear natural ice to carve and sculpt this hotel.

It’s not only the building that’s incredible but the spectacular images of Game of Thrones that adorn its interiors. It depicts a life-size iron throne complete with swords, a glowing blue-eyed white walker emerging from the ice and looming above the bed, a scary Braavosi Hall of Faces, and many more. Enough to remind you of most of the episodes of Game of Thrones! Not only this, but the icy hallways of this ice hotel also showcase sculptures from Latvian, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian sculptors.

If you’re apprehensive of sleeping in icy rooms and fear being frozen in icy beds, perish the thought. The ice hotel provides high-quality thermal sleeping bags and fleece-lined bags to keep you warm and comfortable. An ice restaurant caters to your food cravings. It also has an ice bar with a choice of spirits, served in carved ice glasses, to keep you warm. An ice chapel is also provided for the religious-minded.

If you’re wondering why the ice hotel doesn’t melt, it’s because a minimum temperature of -2 to -5 degree Celsius is maintained at all times. With such freezing temperatures, it is wise to go in only for an overnight stay and carry your warmest thermals.

To reach the SnowVillage, you can take a 90-minute flight from Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, land at Kittilä airport and head for this village, which is only a short distance away.
