What happens when you cross a pastry chef with a porcelain artist? Well, the result is Judit Czinkné Poór, an amazing pastry chef, who some describe as the Michelangelo of the cookie world. The cookies created by this Hungarian chef are so beautiful that they’re fit to be framed, rather than be eaten. And she has only started doing this in 2013!
Judit uses the cookies as her canvas to create intricate works of art. Her tools are the simple icing cones containing food coloring in vibrant hues. With this, she creates stunning designs that imitate traditional Hungarian embroidery. Her skilled hands create an amazing variety of flowers coupled with unbelievably delicate filigree details. Of course, her training in porcelain painting comes in handy for creating such designs.
It all started when Judit made a batch of cookies for a friend in 2013. Instead of coating them with the usual pastel frostings and sprinklers, she adorned them with lovely flower patterns and lacy designs. So beautiful was this cookie artwork that within months she was able to open her cake decorating shop, Mézesmanna.
According to Judit, her intricate work requires dollops of patience and a steady hand. She does everything by her own hand, that is, prepare the dough and create a dozen shades of icing. Thereafter, she uses a homemade piping bag, paintbrushes, and toothpicks to create her patterns absolutely freehand.
Judit’s largest preparation consisted of 450 cookies that she created for the Corinthia Hotel in Budapest, Hungary, for Christmas Day celebrations. It took her two months to prepare!
