Disneyland Paris Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary With Disney Sand Sculptures In Ostend, Belgium

You really have to hand it over to Disneyland Paris to celebrate its 25th Anniversary in a unique style. It is doing so by displaying sand sculptures sprawled on the Grande Plage of Ostend in Belgium. And the sculptures are not 10 or 15in number but an incredible 150 in all, sprawled across an area of 10,000 square meters!

What’s more, all the sand sculptures are inspired by the Disney movies and include the Lion King, the Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Ant-man and others. For this mammoth task, artists from around the world were invited, who let their creative juices flow to create fairytale sand décor that included characters from Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars.

Of course, sand sculpting at this scale required special preparations. Over 240 trucks were used to dump square-grained sand, especially for the sculptures. A total of 40 Sand artists from 12 different countries worked on their sculptures for one month. The sculptures are in no way small. Each of the 150 sculptures ranges from 2 to 12 meters in height.

It is really a marvel to see the artists creating a fantasy world full of magic using just sand and water. The exhibition that extends till September 30, 2018, is certainly a great celebration and a magical experience that is certain to amaze and delight the visitors.

The sand sculpture festival that is held every year has already won a place in the Guinness Book of Records in 2010 as the largest festival of its kind.

If you are keen to visit Disney Sand Magic, its sand-crusted gates have already been thrown open from June 24, 2018, to September 30, 2018. The timings are from 10 am to 7 pm daily. You can purchase your ticket at the entrance; there is no advance booking.

Although it costs €12 per person for adults and €8 between ages 4 and 11, children below four years are free. Students, senior citizens above 65 years and physically challenged pay only €10 per person. For the residents of Ostend, there is a 50 per cent discount. All they need to do is to present their identity card or passport at the box office.
