This Fantasy Café In Seoul Is Straight Out Of Some Comic Book

I’m sure you’re no stranger to theme cafés that can range from classy to bizarre. But, I’m sure you wouldn’t have stepped into a café that looked as if you’ve walked into your favourite bedtime storybook or comic book!

Surprisingly, such a café exists and it’s located in Yeonnam-dong, a district in South Korea. Opened in July 2017, this year-old café, located opposite Hongdae, is called…what else, Café Yeonnam-dong 239-20, which incidentally is its address! And it rates among many amazing and instagrammable cafés.

Run by a young Korean lady, such as the popularity of this café that it keeps her on her toes serving her happy customers. But, what exactly makes this café so special? And what makes the customers identify with its theme?

As the story goes, a South Korean TV series by the name of ‘W’ was aired in the year 2016. It starred Lee Jong Suk, a South Korean actor and model, and Han Hyo-Joo, a renowned actress and its leading lady. The serial is about how a girl stepped into the comic book that her father was drawing and fell in love with a comic book cartoon character inside the book. This is the theme that this Korean lady picked for her café.

So, if you’re a big fan of ‘W’, you’d instantly connect with it and feel you too have stepped into the fantasy world as depicted in ‘W’, what with hand-painted décor, large flower motifs on the wall, furniture that seems so comic book-like and much more.

The café features on the Instagram in all its glory and tempts one and all to try it out to see how it feels like to sip coffee in the comic land! Although this café is making waves on Instagram, it still doesn’t figure in the list of best cafés in Yeonnam-dong. But, it’s climbing up fast and will certainly catch up with others, sooner than later.
