If there’s one art that’s making waves in the art world today, it’s the quilling paper art. This is because of the immense variety it offers.
One such quilling artist is Ralitsa Svilenova a Bulgarian, who’s not only extraordinary in her field but is also afflicted with wanderlust. She has lived in Tenerife, Spain for two years, in Riviera Maya, Mexico for four years and is currently in the USA. How long she’ll stay put in the US, even she doesn’t know!
What sets Ralitsa apart from other quilling artists is her innate sense of colors and shapes. Her choice of color combination in her quilling paintings infuses a freshness that is to be seen to be believed. And her repertoire of creations, including paper quilling home décor, is as immense as it’s varied.
What’s surprising is Ralitsa never pursued her passion for paper art, even though she was bitten by the art bug from her childhood. Instead, she became a psychologist and hypnotherapist. She decided to change tracks only a couple of years ago to pursue her passion. And she chose paper quilling to express her artistic aspirations. Who knew that one day she’ll be hypnotizing her fans with her quilling art!
It was when Ralitsa uploaded her works on Instagram that her works received a most positive response from the viewers. Today, she has an impressive list of followers on her Instagram page. Her works are also displayed in the quilling art gallery of various websites.
Ralitsa is entirely self-taught. She never had any formal training or attended any workshop or course in quilling. Paper strips excited her and, as she puts it, “I just started to play with paper!” For her creations, she uses all kinds of paper and makes do with whatever is available in the market.
Everything inspires Ralitsa and if something excites her, she immediately starts recreating it in quilling in her mind’s eye. It comes as no surprise that she lives by the dictum ‘Endless creative journey’. Ralitsa works on commissions and her quilling art for sale is available on many websites.
