She’s only 25 and she has already established herself as an artist in the art world! Meet Brooke Cormier, a full-time self-taught Canadian painter, who recreates the beauty of nature into incredibly detailed works of art on canvas.
From her very childhood, Cormier was passionate about nature and art. However, her potential as an artist came to fore when she enrolled in her 10th-grade art class. She went on to realize her full potential of becoming an artist in her final year in high school when she took up fine arts. It came as no surprise that she enrolled into Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph.
Passionate about nature, she began painting landscapes full-time after graduation, under her mentor Tim Packer, one of Canada’s top landscape artists. Says she, “I think the essence of nature can be expressed through art by the way it’s captured in the artist’s chosen medium…nature has so many unique ways of being represented, based on how the artist reproduces their experience of it.”
Cormier, with her professionally developed skillset, has become a master at capturing natural settings in her oil paintings. What makes her paintings stand apart from the rest are her exquisite attention to detail and a vibrant play of colors. She is certainly not the one to rest on her laurels and constantly evolves her painting style, both in terms of subject matter and stylistic technique.
Cormier uses various processes to create her paintings, one of them is using photos. Says she, “Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and it complements my painting career extremely well.” Using her creative mind, she selects the photograph that can be turned into a painting.
Cormier’s works have won her many awards in art exhibitions and festivals. She has also had her first art gallery solo exhibition. Her paintings and prints are treasured by private collectors all across the globe. However, it’s her online presence that’s making waves on the internet. On Instagram alone, she enjoys a fan following of over 175,000 followers and counting.
